THE CASTELLOT
The Castellot is located on a rocky foothill of the area called La Solana, in front of Alpatró, on the left bank of the Gallinera River.
The fortification is made up of a tower with a square plan and a large portion of ground enclosed to form a slightly circular shape, bounded by a rammed earth wall. The tower is made of rammed earth upon a foundation of opus incertum masonry used to level the ground.
Its characteristics indicate that it was a tower linked to a shelter used to accommodate the population of the Alpatró area in moments of instability. Currently, the site is private property. In this same place, archaeological remains have been found belonging to the Bronze Age and the Iberian period, leading the experts to think that on this site there were two villages or settlements from those times.
CHRONOLOGY
It is a construction dating from the 13th century, built due to the risk of conquests that existed in that period.
