THE LLIMENER TURRET

The Llimener turret is a very small building located near Alpatró. Remains of walls that define a rectangular perimeter can be observed.
According to Josep Torró, this small building could originally have been an observation tower that was most probably a part of the fortification system in La Vall de Gallinera.
Other archaeologists, however, think the walls may be the remains of a medieval windmill. Joaquim Bolufer (2007) describes the site as follows:

The remains form a rectangular base oriented from northeast to southwest, 3.70 metres by 6.40 metres, which was built with formwork walls made with lime mortar and pebbles, gravel and blocks, with a thickness of 57- 60 cm and a maximum preserved height of 60 cm. In the central sector of the southeastern side, the wall has an opening of about 85 cm with a kind of hole on the outside with a semicircular shape and masonry walls built with stone blocks and lime mortar, an element that could be interpreted as a kind of access.
