THE LOWER MILL
It is located downstream from the previous mills, approximately 1,100 metres from the Middle Mill, on the left bank of the river, but already within the administrative limits of L’Atzúbia.
The water arrived at the mill by way of a ditch coming from a dam that collected, in addition to the river water, also the mill water coming from the Middle Mill, ending up in a completely irregular pear-shaped pond that terminated with a relatively narrow canal.
It has three mouths directed towards two vaults, the one on the left with two mouths and two wheels, separated by a stone pillar, and the one on the right with one mouth and a single wheel.
The two vaults are separated by a pillar. After acting as a source of energy, the water returned to the river without any type of drain.
This mill had three Catalan millstones, which gives an idea of the volume of water there used to be. It is important to bear in mind that this was the area where the course of the river had the greatest volume, due to the springs that flow into it and the fact that it also received water from the other two mills through solid ditches, without any losses. The owners were the Serafin family from L’Atzúbia, with Federico Server Alemany being the last active miller. The mill was already inactive by the time the Spanish Civil War started, in 1936.
